Background:

Happy Kids Education Center is a Christian founded private school located at plot 374 to 380 near Kasubi produce market along Hoima road in Rubaga Division, Kampala City. The school was started in 2014 and was registered later in 2015 in response to the education needs of the children from urban poor families in the area. The school offers affordable education services and has attracted children whose parents, mostly single mothers, work in Kasubi produce market. They find the school to be safe for their children, besides a reputation of being the best in offering kindergarten and lower primary education in the area.

Although the services offered by the school are good, many still can not have their children recruited into the school whose current capacity is only 90 children in six small classrooms. With better infrastructure, the school can accommodate at least 300 children. The swings in the school’s play area are freely accessible to other children on weekends. Happy Kids is the only school in the area which does this as a way to reach out to even children who do not attend school.
