Background:

Star Nursery and Primary School was started in 2008 by Ms. Nakato Mary, who is the current principal, with the support of Alpha and Omega Church in Bukerere Village, Mukono District. Two acres of land registered to the school were donated and temporary structures built to serve as classrooms. Today over 300 students are enrolled through all the nursery - primary grades. The students come from poor and vulnerable communities.

Bukerere Village is in a rural area around 20 km north west of Kampala and 15 km north of Mukono. The area has a high illiteracy rate and few schools.  Star school is partnering with Andtex Training and Care Organisation (TATCO Uganda), a local NGO, which seeks to provide quality and affordable education to low-income children around the greater Kampala area.
