Background:

St. Joseph Mukasa Nyakabingo Infant Modern Nursery and Primary School started in 2001 in a very remote area in the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains at Nyakabingo Catholic Church, Nyakabingo Village, Kakone Parish for the Catholic Diocese of Kasese.

The school is registered by the Ministry of Education with a school enrolment of 542 pupils and 17 staff members on 3 acres of land donated by Nyakabingo Catholic Church. The school runs a Kindergarten to Primary 7.

The school has 6 temporary classrooms made of stick and mud, and an incomplete, two classroom block. A 3 classroom leveled ground for the Nursery section is already completed by parents and the community ready for construction.
