Background:

Kyaminyoku Nursery and Primary school is found on the slopes of Mt. Rwenzori overlooking Kasese Town. The school, which operagtes Nursery - Primary classes, was started in 2006 and currently has an enrolment of 450 students.

The school is owned by Kyaminyoku Church of Uganda in the South Rwenzori Diocese and is situated on two acres of land donated by the church.

Kyaminyoku is an isolated area with no social services including schools, good roads, water and electricity. Before the establishment of this school, children here would walk long distances on difficult, rocky paths to reach a distant school. This made it difficult for many potential students, including those with disabilities. Early marriages and school dropouts were very rampant. For these reasons, the church established this school to help eleviate this problems and provide a positive change.

Despite the need for the school and the availability of students, the church and the community lacked support to put up furnished classrooms that will lead to successful teaching and learning process.  This is when Classrooms for Africa was approached to assist.
