Background:

Busagazi Primary School is located on a remote peninsula in Lake Victoria midway between Entebbe and Jinja. It was started in 1990 by Deo and Christine Musisi, a Christian business couple from Entebbe. Through working with the Buikwe community, Deo and Christine became aware of the need for quality education if the children were to improve their lives and raise their standard of living. They decided to establish a school in this impoverished community where there are few amenities. The school enrols over 400 children in pre-Kindergarten through Grade 7. The school is operated by the charity founded by the Musisi family, Uganda Now Outreach, which is a registered not-for-profit organization.

Over the years some permanent school buildings have been erected, but more permanent classrooms are needed to replace current temporary structures and eliminate the need to hold some of the classes outdoors.

In March 2015, Classrooms for Africa representatives met with the leadership and were very impressed by what has been achieved and their dedication to improving the lives of the children at the Busagazi school.
